Try This Exercise At Home :)
Hey y’all,
Firstly, Happy New Year! Whether you decided to bring in the new year at a bar, go to a house party, or fall asleep before the clock struck 12; I hope this year brings you good health and more courage to advocate for yourself and success on your terms!
As for myself, I spent it with my queer family watching a phenomenal drag show and danced the night away! But before the festivities commenced, I took some time to reflect and did some journaling. I believe one of the best gifts you can give yourself throughout the year is the gift of reflection. Yes, you read that right: reflection. When you take the time to reflect it gives you the opportunity to grow personally and professionally through every experience that you encounter. It’s not always easy or pleasant either, sometime you have to dig deep and ask yourself the hard questions. Reflection is about growth and it starts with curiosity, which means asking lots of questions.
When you reflect you are pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Sometimes we have that voice in our head that doesn’t want to acknowledge the bad and the ugly which can sound like, “just leave it alone, there is nothing good that will come out of this, I really don’t want to go back through this!” Your brain will do its best to derail your reflection efforts but the key is to push through, reflect and expand your growth.
Below are some questions to help you get started!
What went well in 2022?
What didn’t go well in 2022?
What learning and key lessons need to be taken away from 2022?
What did I learn about myself today?
Try to practice daily reflection, it’ll help your growth both personally and professionally this year.
Cheers, Tiana
