New Year, New Me is Bullshit
Hey y’all,
This coming Sunday will mark the start of a new year and if you’re like most people, you probably have a list of resolutions at hand to start the year with a “clean slate,” whatever that means! As I've gotten older creating resolutions no longer resonates, yet theses are a few lessons I've learned in my youth to reflect on throughout the upcoming new year.
1. Take it day by day.
Growing up my parents instilled the philosophy to approach each day as it comes. As we all know, making goals is a part of life and what we also know is life will constantly have good, cringe, mundane and all of the above moments constantly. All you can do is show up the best you can each day; and let life Life.
2. Celebrate small wins.
We all want to achieve our goals but along the journey to reaching them, we can get unmotivated sometimes. This is normal and it’s also the reason why celebrating small wins is so important in rejuvenating motivation and discipline to push through difficulties and move forward.
3. It's okay to be dynamic.
As y’all know my title is the Director of Fun and Relaxation; it would be remiss to not remind you to add more fun into your life daily. Studies continue to prove the benefits of adding laughter, play, and rest in your daily life. So go do it!
I hope everyone takes the upcoming days, weeks, and months to reflect and curate a life they enjoy!
Happy New Years,
Tiana
