Spring is almost here!

Hey y’all,

March is wonderful. Not only is it Spring Equinox and Women’s HERstory Month, but we're also closer to my favorite season —Summer! This month also symbolizes taking the introspective thoughts we formed during the winter months and putting them into action.

Our skin is the body's largest organ, and we should provide it with the proper nourishment it needs.

During the transition of seasons in the PNW, our bodies will crave hydration. So let's talk about some of my fave brands and outline some easy steps to ensure you care for your skin.

  1. Our body will need additional hydration as the weather ranges from cold to warm and everything in between. Add an extra 8 to 24 oz per day.

  2. Pay attention to your gut. Your body will always let you know what it wants more and less of. Adding fermented foods to your diet is key.

  3. Purge through your pores. Sweating is the best detox! Add an incline when walking on the treadmill, or schedule a weekly 50-minute infrared sauna treatment at City Sweats.

  4. Invest in a moisturizing body wash. Currently, my favorite is Olay Ultra Moisture Shea Butter which leaves my skin feeling silky soft, and hydrated.

  5. Daily or weekly exfoliation. Exfoliating is a great way to remove old skin cells and reveal glowy new skin. I love the Amethyst and Rose Polish body scrub by Herbivore - you'll thank me later!

  6. Invest in fatty acid body oil or butter. Some of my favorites products are Helen Rose unscented body moisturizer, Epicuren Kukui coconut massage and body oil, and SheaMoisture Shea Butter (make sure you microwave this product in a glass container for at least 10 minutes to soften it up, shea butter doesn't do well in cold temperatures).

  7. Don't forget to moisturize after bathing. This is the best time because our pores are open so that the moisturizer can do its job. Regularly moisturizing is self-massage and stretching. Applying moisturizer to your back increases your range of motion, and working in body butter on your feet helps release pressure points in your arches.

I understand life can get busy, so try to add a few of these tips into your daily routine to start. Like all things, consistency and creating space to be in your energy contributes to aging gracefully.

Cheers, Tiana
