Emotional Wellness Month

Hey y’all,

October is Emotional Wellness Month! Did you know your emotional well-being affects your overall health? Mental and emotional stress can translate into adverse physical reactions, a weakened immune system, and poor health. “Emotional wellness” refers to our ability to process feelings in a healthy, positive way and manage the stress of everyday life. If you feel stressed or overwhelmed, slowing down is vital. Optimize your emotional wellness from our tips below.

1. Practice mindfulness.

Mindfulness is about being present in the moment. Rather than living on autopilot, mindfulness encourages us to be present, and it can improve both physical and emotional well-being. You can practice mindfulness by doing everything from running to eating.

2. Connect and Communicate with others.

You don’t have to go through this journey alone! Emotional wellness is about being connected to and able to deal with your emotions, but so much of our emotional lives are lived with those we know. Make a point of intentionally talking about your feelings with others, which can lead to you understanding them. Ask others about their feelings so that you have the opportunity to experience different perspectives.

3. Manage stress.

Managing stress is key to staying emotionally and physically healthy. When starting a stress management practice, try different activities to see which fit you best and make you feel happier. You can do a simple meditation with the help of a YouTube video or an app, go for a walk, take a bath, or practice deep breathing.

4. Invest in sleep.

Your sleep habits and behaviors are known as sleep hygiene. The better you sleep, the better your chances of feeling good when awake. Improve your sleep hygiene through practices such as a designated bedtime, limiting caffeine later in the day, and not overeating before bed.

Movement Snack

This week, we’re going into a straddle stretch. It strengthens the core, quadriceps, hips, and knees. It is a hip opener that opens the pelvic joints, lengthens the spine, especially the lumbar spine, and tones it with time. Watch our new video on YouTube or TikTok, and follow us for fresh content posted each week!
