Indigenous Peoples’ Day
Hey y’all,
Today is Indigenous Peoples' Day - a holiday that celebrates and honors the cultures, contributions, and histories of Indigenous peoples in different parts of the world. The purpose of it is to recognize the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions of Native American, First Nations, and Indigenous communities while also raising awareness about the historical and ongoing injustices they have faced. Below are some ways you can get involved and celebrate.
1. Attend a local Indigenous Peoples’ Day event.
The City of Seattle observes today as an official holiday and is partnering with employee groups and tribal communities for three celebratory events at City Hall from 12-1:30 p.m. All events are open to the public. There will also be a celebratory march, bingo, and more. Learn more about the events HERE!
2. Donate to non-profit Indigenous-led organizations.
The United Indians of All Tribes Foundation (UIATF) mission is to provide educational, cultural, and social services that reconnect Indigenous people in the Puget Sound region to their heritage by strengthening their sense of belonging and significance as Native people. Learn more about their organization and donate HERE!
2. Shop and support Native-owned businesses.
Washington State has a vibrant Native culture that can be found in museums, galleries, street names, stores, and other public spaces. Shop using Intentionalist to find small businesses and the diverse people behind them through everyday decisions about where we eat, drink, and shop. You can find Native-owned businesses HERE!
Cheers,

This week, we’re working on our quads, a group of four muscles located on the front and partially the side of the thighs. Some of the key benefits and roles of the quad muscles include allowing the knees to extend/straighten, absorbing shock when you land on your feet, taking pressure off your knees, helping with balance and coordination, and playing a role in hip flexion and stabilization of the pelvis. Watch our new video on YouTube or TikTok, and follow us for fresh content posted each week!
