A Few Ways To Practice Self-Care!

Over the last few weeks, we’ve discussed some ways to take care of your own mental well-being such as the use of aromatherapy, tapping (also known as emotional freedom technique), and practicing yoga. But, of course, coping with mental health can involve several other strategies as it includes mind, body, and soul!

Take breaks: Give yourself permission to take breaks when needed. It's okay to step back from social media or social settings if you're feeling overwhelmed. Luckily, you can temporarily deactivate your social media account like Instagram until you’re ready to be back online.

Practice gratitude: Cultivate gratitude by focusing on the positive aspects of your life. Practicing gratitude regularly can help improve your mood and overall well-being. Write in your journal every morning or at the end of day things you are grateful for.

Connect with others: Connect with others who share similar experiences or interests such as a hiking or running club. Joining support groups or even online communities can provide a sense of belonging and understanding.

Set boundaries: Establish healthy boundaries to protect your mental well-being. Learn to say no to things that drain your energy or cause unnecessary stress.

Practice self-expression: Find creative outlets such as journaling, art, or music to express your thoughts and emotions. Engaging in creative activities can be therapeutic and help you process your feelings.

Engage in advocacy: Get involved in mental health advocacy efforts in your community or online. This could involve participating in events, sharing your story, or supporting organizations that promote mental health awareness and support.
