Benefits of Essential Oils

Most of you are familiar with aromatherapy, especially if you’ve gotten a massage at Indigo Movement. We like to spritz it on your sheets before you lay on the massage table or mixed in with your massage oil for additional benefits. But what exactly are those benefits? Well, aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. And it enhances both physical and emotional health!

Essential oils are used in various ways including massage, inhalation, and topical application. Breathing in essential oils through the nose is often believed to offer therapeutic benefits including respiratory disinfection, decongestion, and psychological benefits. And, of course, it is often applied to the skin during a massage, bath, or through skin care products.

Aromatherapy is credited with alleviating conditions such as anxiety, depression, nausea, insomnia, and muscle pain. It's also used to boost mood, reduce stress, and improve sleep.

Below are some of our favorite essentail oils and their benefits!

Lavender: Promotes relaxation and believed to treat anxiety, fungal infections, and allergies.

Peppermint: Used for boosting energy and aiding digestion.

Eucalyptus: Often used for respiratory conditions and to relieve muscle pain.

Tea Tree: Known for its antiseptic properties and ability to treat wounds.

Aromatherapy can be a wonderful addition to a regular wellness routine, offering benefits that are as pleasant as they are therapeutic!
