Honoring MLK Jr. and the Power of the Collective

What an interesting day. Several things are happening at once. On one hand, it's a day of remembrance, honor, and a reminder to be of service; shoutout to Martin Luther King Jr., Coretta Scott King (the vizier), and the team. On the other hand, there's the transfer of power and everything and everybody that comes with that. With that being said, what both individuals have in common is their team. 2024 taught me that my team is rare and dope!

To share the lessons I learned, we have to go back to Spring 2020. At the same time, the entire world was on pause except for essential workers. My bestie, James, and I were crafting a rebranding for my business. Side note: do you remember Indigo Movement's original name? The answer will be at the end! Anywho, we were busting our asses. Between Spring and Fall 2020, the company's rebirth was in full swing and looked gorgeous.

In December 2020, I added Jordan to the team, and baby Indigo Movement was in full bloom. When I think about how my team and I play and work together, alignment is the first word that comes to mind. When you're in a partnership or community with people who align with your value systems, dancing through the ebbs and flows makes life easier. The more I do business with all kinds of people, organizations, and vendors, the more what I have with my team is rare.

My team is dope! James and Jordan are all-stars in their respective industries—James is a PR expert for fashion and wellness, and Jordan is a master esthetician and Rockstar mom. These powerhouses give me additional perspective, courage, and community. These two are just as passionate about the service, quality, and growth of Indigo Movement as I am. I'm one blessed cookie to have them. Cheers to more amazing years to come with these two!

Love,
Tiana M. Duncan
