Celebrate the Season of Giving: Support Culture, Community, and Belonging

The holiday season is a time of giving, reflection, and coming together to support causes that strengthen our communities! Non-profit organizations like Wa Na Wari, The Wing Luke Museum, and The Northwest African American Museum play vital roles in preserving culture, amplifying voices, and fostering equity and belonging. By supporting these organizations during the holidays, you contribute to their impactful missions of creating spaces for art, history, and healing. Whether through donations, memberships, or attending events, your support helps sustain their efforts to celebrate diversity, preserve cultural heritage, and build stronger, more inclusive communities.

Wa Na Wari

Wa Na Wari, co-founded by artists Inye Wokoma, Elisheba Johnson, Rachel Kessler, and Jill Freidberg, is a center dedicated to celebrating Black art and fostering a sense of belonging. This immersive community art project reclaims Black cultural spaces, emphasizing the importance of Black land ownership in gentrified neighborhoods such as the Central District. Through art, historic preservation, and community connection, Wa Na Wari's mission is to cultivate Black ownership, possibility, and belonging. By incubating and amplifying Black art, the center serves as both a creative hub and a safe space for organizing and movement-building. Learn more about them HERE.

Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American

The Wing Luke Museum, located in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District, is a renowned art and history museum dedicated to celebrating the culture, art, and history of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. They connect everyone to the dynamic history, cultures, and art of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders through vivid storytelling and inspiring experiences to advance racial and social equity. Founded in 1967, it is a Smithsonian Institution affiliate and holds the distinction of being the only pan-Asian Pacific American community-based museum in the United States. Northwest African American Museum

The Northwest African American Museum (NAAM) serves as an anti-racist, pro-equity space of hope, help, and healing for the Northwest region, fostering intergenerational cultural wealth. Central to the African American experience in the Northwest is the story of migration, community-building, and resilience. Through exhibitions and programs, NAAM showcases the visual arts, music, crafts, literature, and history of African Americans in the region. Embracing the ongoing evolution of the Black community, the museum highlights the stories of African Americans whose ancestry traces back to slavery, as well as those of recent immigrants from countries like Somalia, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
