November of Gratitude & Giving Back
As November begins, we at Indigo Movement are taking time to reflect on the power of gratitude and the joy that comes with giving back. This season reminds us that self-care and uplifting others go hand in hand. Throughout the month, we’re proud to shine a light on organizations across the Pacific Northwest that are creating positive change. Each week, we'll highlight ways to support their impactful work, connect with local causes, and spread compassion. Together, let’s make this a month filled not only with gratitude but also with meaningful action and heartfelt giving.
Chief Seattle Club
Chief Seattle Club is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide a sacred space to nurture, affirm, and strengthen the spirit of American Indian and Alaska Native people. At their Day Center in Pioneer Square, they provide food, primary health care, housing assistance, legal services, a Native art job training program, and opportunities for members to engage in cultural community-building. They also provide basic needs for members, many of whom are experiencing homelessness. Native people in urban areas face unique challenges, and the Chief Seattle Club embraces the Indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions of our members as the primary method for healing and transformation. You can volunteer your time or give back financially to help them with their mission.
Urban Native Education Alliance
Urban Native Education Alliance (UNEA) was founded in 2008 to engage all generations to serve and empower Native youth through education, culture, and tradition. UNEA's programs are youth-centered and youth-driven and designed to foster health, wellness, academic success, and socio-cultural growth. Throughout the year, they host special events, such as a wellness retreat centered around multigenerational learning and activities to enhance health and well-being using traditional practices. You can volunteer your time or donate financially to help them with their mission.
Red Eagle Soaring
Red Eagle Soaring (RES) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization supporting youth access to Native arts and culture. RES’s free programming integrates contemporary theatre and traditional Native performing arts. They engage Native youth in critical discussions about the issues affecting their lives and provide an affinity group where youth can build confidence, identity, and community. RES empowers Native youth to express themselves, take creative action, and sustain their cultural heritage. You can donate here.
