Join Us in Giving Back to Our Community This Month!

As we enter November, we’re embracing a season dedicated to gratitude and giving back. At Indigo Movement, we believe in not only nurturing ourselves but also extending that care and support to those around us. This month, we invite you to join us in making a meaningful impact on our community, so each week we will share some of our favorite organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest and ways you can give back to them.

Black Coffee Northwest

Black Coffee Northwest is a meeting place rooted in culture, tradition, and advocacy. Their youth-run coffee bar has its own personality reflective of those in the community. Black Coffee Northwest is a place where people meet, cultivate relationships, and develop ideas. It's a place for people to step back from the daily hustle and enjoy an exceptional beverage. Get involved by stopping by their Shoreline location and be sure to check out their regular community events HERE. To get in contact for other ways to lend a hand, email info@blackcoffeenw.com or call (206) 316-8366.

Feed The People

Feed The People (FTP) is a community-focused, Black-led initiative. They operate a community kitchen and lead youth development programs for the love of food! FTP envisions communities where nourishing food is accessible, where youth grow up with strong personal connections to food and mentors, and where culinary skills are integral to youth development. They are always seeking donations, partnerships, and volunteers, which you can learn more HERE. For over a year, the founder and leader Chef Tarik Abdullah has been operating the FTP Community Kitchen program providing no-cost, freshly prepared meals to anyone in need from their kitchen in the Central District. They have been able to support this work through grants and generous donations like yours to be able to expand the reach of FTP throughout the city.

Nurturing Roots Farm

Nurturing Roots Farm (NRF) is a thriving urban farm and community farming program that values community, self-sufficiency, food empowerment, social justice, and education. It was born out of found Nyema Clark's desire to create a space where people from all backgrounds could come together to learn about and engage with the food system. She recognized that many people, especially those in underserved communities, lack access to fresh, healthy, and culturally relevant food. At NRF, they grow a variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers using sustainable and regenerative farming practices. They also offer educational programs and workshops on topics such as gardening, cooking, and food preservation. In addition, the farm provides fresh produce to local schools, food banks, and community organizations, and hosts community events and gatherings. You can support them HERE.

Cheers,
Team Indigo Movement
