Fun Things To Do in September!

Hey y’all,

Despite the rain, there’s no doubt that Seattle is a beautiful city, especially in the fall, with its colorful foliage and cool, crisp weather. However, the weather can be unpredictable sometimes, so it's a good idea to dress in layers and check the weather before any activity. Here are some family-friendly things to do during the fall season:

The Puyallup Fair (a.k.a. The Washington State Fair) is one of the largest and oldest fairs in Washington. It takes place annually every September and typically runs for three weeks. The fair offers live music concerts, rodeo events, carnival rides, exhibits, fireworks, games, stage performances, and the food (Who doesn’t love scones?!) Check it out before it ends this Sunday, September 24!

Can’t make it to Germany for Oktoberfest? Don’t worry; Seattle also has an Oktoberfest in the Fremont neighborhood! It is one of the largest Oktoberfest celebrations in the Pacific Northwest and coincides with the traditional timing of Oktoberfest events in Munich, Germany. At the festival, you can enjoy craft beers, food, arts and crafts, entertainment, Fremont Village (an area with activities and games suitable for all ages), and a Stein Hoisting Competition, a traditional Oktoberfest activity! It starts this Friday, October 22, and through Sunday, October 24!

If you want a slower pace and long for more space, then make sure to check out all of the beautiful parks in Seattle during the fall. Discovery Park is one of my favorite parks and offers diverse landscapes, from forests to meadows to rugged coastlines. The fall foliage is stunning, and you can enjoy miles of hiking trails! There’s also the Washington Park Arboretum near UW; this botanical garden features a wide variety of trees and plants, making it a perfect place to enjoy fall colors. You can stroll along the paths or kayak on Lake Washington! There are endless parks to see the fall foliage; you can find more HERE!

While Seattle is not known for apple orchards within the city limits, there are several apple orchards and farms in the surrounding areas where you can go apple picking! Remlinger Farms, about a 45-minute drive north of Seattle, offers apple picking along with other fall activities like pumpkin patches, a corn maze, and a family fun park. And Carpinito Brothers in Kent is also a favorite for many in the Seattle area. It offers a variety of apple varieties for picking, as well as a pumpkin patch, corn maze, and farm market.
