Black-Owned Businesses To Support

Hey y’all,

Although Black Business Month is officially celebrated during the month of August, let’s continue to support Black-owned businesses every day, 24/7/365. And remember, support doesn’t always have to mean financially, it can be through spreading awareness, following or liking their social media account, or simply leaving a review :)

Communion Restaurant & Bar

Located in Seattle’s Central District, Communion is a place to feel seen and at peace. They aim to provide you food and the intimacy that make you feel at home. On the menu you’ll find mouthwatering items such as BBQ shrimp, seared pork belly and pinto beans, butter basted cabbage to stewed greens served in a gumbo base with Dungeness crab, prawns, and hotlinks, just to name a few! It’s no wonder this community gathering spot has garnered attention from The New York Times, Conde Nast Traveler, Seattle Met, and was a James Beard Award Semifinalist in 2021.

Seattle Sorbets

Seattle Sorbets is family-owned and operated sorbet and ice cream company based in West Seattle. For over 25 years, they have consistently delivered high-quality, locally made, vegan, certified kosher, fat-free, gluten-free, non-dairy sorbets and ice cream. They offer unique flavor such as Raspberry Merlot, Champagne Orange, Tequila Lime, and Honey Vanilla. Make sure to pick up a pint at select Red Apple and Thriftway grocery stores or order a scoop next time you visit Salty’s on Alki. You can also order them online at DoorDash, GrubHub, and Uber Eats!

Jacob Willard Home

Do you have an upholstery, refinishing, or interior design project? Jacob Willard Home can restore your damaged or worn furniture to its original glory! They also offer custom upholstery services for your furniture projects, no matter the style or furniture era. Their team of dedicated professionals will work with you to bring your vision to life or help you define it.

Fortunate Orchard

Fortunate Orchard is a floral studio and garden situated in a quiet corner of south Seattle. Their designs are deeply rooted in the seasons of the Pacific Northwest and sourced primarily from the West Coast - often from their very own garden. They have built a team of makers and doers that contribute their own expertise to each project, bringing beautiful designs to fruition for all. Fortunate Orchard collaborates with clients who exalt in the natural world and who embrace unorthodox, unexpected beauty.
