Gathering Roots
Hey y’all,
We're officially in the season of giving! This month we'll highlight a local Washington organization each week to support this season and throughout the year. Seeing the smiles on the faces of those you are kind to makes the act of giving worthwhile. Research even suggests that it leads to greater happiness for the giver. Who doesn’t want to be happy?
Gathering Roots Retreat & Wellness Center is a Black, Indigeneous, People of Color (BIPOC) led and centered organization for the sharing of engaged wellness, art, and cultural connection to the land. Their motto is, “The Land is the Medicine." It was founded by Tracy Stewart in 2019.
Last year, the nonprofit purchased 78 acres of land in Auburn to provide marginalized people of color with a space to heal generational trauma. By using the land to grow food for the community, host a handful of different retreats and classes, and, eventually, build a yurt village, this collective hopes to establish a site that brings liberation and joy to Black lives. They will partner with a variety of teachers, farmers, and artists in the greater Seattle area and PNW to provide short and long term programming in a retreat setting.
Throughout the year, Gathering Roots offers classes such as Kemetic Yoga, New Moon Manifestation Workshops and more. Cheers,
Tiana
