Dress for Success

Hey y’all,

Seattle might dismiss fashion ;), but when it comes to interviewing for jobs and succeeding in the workplace, clothing can make all the difference! Dress for Success is not just helping women with another “interview outfit”. The nonprofit helps lift women out of poverty by providing professional attire that leads to the security of a job.

Dress for Success is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1997 whose mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

The organization is based in New York City but has expanded to 143 cities (Dress for Success Seattle is one of them!) in 23 countries and has helped more than 1.3 million women around the globe.

They offer a variety of services and programs ranging from leadership training, employment retention, to their career center. One of their programs is the “Suiting program” where they accept gently used clothing and accessories for women. These clothes are then available for other women to shop one of the local Dress for Success boutiques prior to their interviews. A Dress for Success volunteer will work with them to help choose an interview outfit and also provide guidance and support for the upcoming interview.

So whether it’s giving your time, resources or donating financially, let the giving begin!

Cheers, Tiana
