Black-owned Businesses To Support Right Now

Hey y’all,

Did you know August is Black Business Month? Started in 2004 by historian John William Templeton and engineer Frederick E. Jordan Sr., Black Business Month is a time to shine a light on Black-owned businesses and all they represent in the effort to strive toward diversity and equality. Shop and support these local Black-owned businesses today and all year long!

Boon Boona Coffee

"Boon" and "Boona" are both words that mean "coffee" in different languages of East Africa. They have formed long-lasting, sustainable relationships with coffee producers, exporters, and importers in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, and many more African nations, focusing on supporting woman-owned growers. Not only are they able to source some of the best coffee from Africa, but they're also able to share a larger share of their profits directly with growers while helping develop the African coffee industry. Visit their Seattle, Renton, or University Bookstore location!

It opened its doors on Juneteenth 2021 with a mission to enrich lives through plant gifting and ownership. They have a diverse selection of pots and plants, offer free potting services, and of course, can help you find the perfect plant for any environment or to gift.
