Black History Month is 365 Days a Year

Hey y’all,

Black History Month is not merely a designated time frame on the calendar. It's a pivotal reminder of the contributions, resistance to the status quo, and triumphs of Black people and the liberation for all people.

Black History Month to me serves as a beacon to highlight overlooked stories, narratives, and perspectives to remind everyone how we continue to be the hidden figures behind that continues to move progress.

It’s essential to recognize that Black History Month is not confined to just 28 (sometimes 29) days in February. It is woven into the very fabric of our collective narratives, spanning centuries of perservance even through extreme terrors of exisiting, creativity to express the complexities dealing with life, and adding joy to balance the heartaches of activism.. From the abolitionist movements to the Civil Rights era, which is on-going, and will never be an “era”.

While Black History Month provides a focal point for reflection and celebration. Education, and activate particiaption is a powerful tool for change, and it's incumbent upon all of us. Let's continue to engage in meaningful conversations, amplify Black voices, support Black-owned businesses and organizations, and actively work towards dismantling systemic barriers that perpetuate inequality.

As we navigate the complexities of our world, let's remember that Black history is not just a chapter in a textbook or a fleeting moment in time—it's an ongoing journey.

Thank you for being part of this important conversation.

Cheers,
